Current Projects
Young at Heart
The Young at Heart project, started two years ago, brings creative activity to patients on the elderly care wards. Artists are currently facilitating sessions on the Farley Stroke Unit and Winterslow, Redlynch and Chilmark Wards, six times a week. Last year an estimated 1200 patients were involved in storytelling, songs, poetry, music or movement with the artists bringing light and joy to the bedside.
In a recent Dementia Peer Review the activities were noted as good practice and a good example of connecting with patients with dementia. The project, now running at Westminster Memorial Hospital in Shaftesbury and the Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne, is going from strength to strength and ArtCare hopes to futher extend the range of activities from the summer.
